Sonam Kapoor turned 35 today and in an ode to the actress, we revisit 10 of her most iconic looks.
Sonam Kapoor is celebrating her 35th birthday today. Apart from her acting skills, the actress is also famous for her iconic sartorial choices. Sonam and Rhea Kapoor are the most fashionable sister duo in Bollywood and these two have created many moments that have gone down in the history of fashion.
As an ode to the Neerja actress on her birthday, we are taking a trip down the memory lane to talk about 10 out-of-the-box outfits that Sonam donned and inspired us.
A POWERSUIT MOMENT
Bollywood has decoded how to do a power suit right, but when it comes to slaying a quirky badass one, Sonam Kapoor knows exactly how. For an event, Sonam donned this velvet black blazer by Peter Dundas and teamed it with a pair of matching flared pants. Letting the suit and the intricate embroidery be the highlight, Sonam ditched a shirt and went with minimal accessories.
TOO MANY FEATHERS, SAID NO ONE
A figure-hugging black leather dress is easy to look good in. But Sonam Kapoor in this Ulyana Sergeenko Couture bodycon leather dress gave us what most call a jaw-dropping moment. The one-shoulder detail and black feathers, teamed with the long gloves, gave a very chic outlook to the attire.
NOT SO BASIC BLACK DRESS
If you are looking for the perfect mixture of chic and bold, it was this dress that Sonam wore at the premiere of Malang. The outfit, that was designed by Rosie Assoulin, featured a cinched-in torso with a plunging neckline and sheer details at the waist. It was the basic accessories that took things up a notch.
What do you wear to stand out among other fashionistas at the most iconic fashion week of the year? Well, Sonam Kapoor wears a saree tuxedo. The Veere Di Wedding actress was spotted wearing a one-shoulder suit pant combo that she draped like a saree. The outfit that was made by Jean Paul Gaultier was styled with a statement silver neckpiece, middle-parted bun and a bindi.
BLACK SWAN MOMENT
At a benefit hosted by Isha Ambani, Sonam Kapoor stepped out in a marvellous creation by Ashi Studio. Sonam’s sheer dress had a turtle neck and an A-line skirt. The actress looked fierce as she tied her hair in a middle-parted low bun and went with simple studs as accessories.
VISION IN WHITE
Sonam Kapoor and white outfits go hand-in-hand. This outfit by Sharon Wauchob that contains an extremely plunging neckline and sheer flared pants proves the same. Sonam completed this look with matching oversized blazer and her mother’s jewellery. We are in awe of this look.
SAREE NOT SORRY
A quirky outfit list cannot be completed without the mention of a saree and extra points if it is a red one. For the promotions of her film, The Zoya Factor, Sonam wore this pre-pleated saree by Arjun Saluja that had an asymmetric zip on the blouse and we loved it.
A PRINCESS MOMENT
One of the most beautiful outfits that Sonam has been snapped in was the bright red dress by Georges Hobeika. The actress wore the dress at the trailer launch of her film, The Zoya Factor. The long flowy dress with the ruffled hemline and the cinched-in waist just left us speechless. The off-shoulder details made Sonam look no less than a Disney princess.
Who says your suit cannot have a train? Sonam Kapoor at the Cannes 2019 wore a custom Ralph and Russo tuxedo that had a train to die for. The well-fitted suit was accessorised with a multi-layered neckpiece by Chopard and Jimmy Choo heels. This was a total boss babe moment that Sonam had at the Cannes red carpet.
THE ICONIC BRIDAL RED CARPET MOMENT
We saved her most iconic look for the last. Sonam looked like a regal bride in her puffy embellished pearl white lehenga by Ralph and Russo. She teamed it with a matching choli that had an exaggerated lace sleeve. With her hands full of henna, Sonam was looked nothing less than a dream. She attended the Cannes Film Festival 2018 right after getting married to Anand Ahuja.
