The air bubbles are opening and new international flights are starting but who can really fly out of the country?
Remember we spoke about air bubbles? The air bubbles are supposed to be the direct flights to and from India to particular countries. The Ministry Of Civil Aviation of India had announced that they were planning to open bilateral travel-bubbles with various countries. These countries include the United State Of America, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
But that was the only information that we have at that point. Now, we know a little more and we are here to tell you all about it.
Rules for international flights
If you thought that you would be able to travel via these air bubbles just like that or leave for a vacation, well, let us burst your bubble. That is not happening. Travel to these counties has opened up but things are not as simple or as straight forward as we hoped.
The travel is being allowed only within safe countries, meaning these countries have somewhat taken care of the pandemic. Another thing that is important here is that these passengers can arrive in the country without showing any medical certificates. They won’t even have to quarantine themselves.
For Indians, who want to travel via these air bubbles, the rules are very strict. Firstly, there are only a few flights that are allowed to carry passengers in these air bubbles. SpiceJet is one of them. The Indian passengers will have to go through checks and will have to quarantine.
People who can fly out of India
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, “only those persons shall be allowed to travel to the destination countries, who are citizens of that country, people who have a green card or Permanent Residency Status or OCI card or any other special status in that country. Those who are stranded in close neighbouring countries and permitted to exit through India will also be allowed. Indian nationals who hold any type of visa of any country (other than visa for tourism purpose), with a minimum residual validity of one month,” will be allowed to travel in these air bubbles.
